4. M.2 SSDs

These SSDs make use of the M.2 form factors. Usually, the M.2 SSDs are connected to the motherboard via the M.2 port which is also called the M.2 socket.

The solid state drive is inserted into the M.2 socket and screwed into the motherboard to ensure that it is well secured.

The most common forms of M.2 SSDs are the ones that use the 2280 designs which are supported by most motherboards. However, you should check the motherboard manual to be sure of which M.2 size it supports.
